JSD:Tell us about how you ended up in Paris and how long you've been there.
TheFashionBomb: I've always loved French culture and language, ever since I was an adolescent in middle school. I really took to my French classes, and started traveling to France when I was sixteen, spending almost every summer in high school in Europe. I didn't do a semester or year abroad while in college, and always felt this tug to live abroad for longer than three months. I started working after college, and my life was fine, but it wasn't great. Basically I was at a job where I didn't see myself going where I wanted to go professionally, so I decided it would be a good time to take a break, travel, and reposition my life. I will be two years in October.
JSD: What are your favorite Parisian hotspots?
TheFashionBomb:
-Restaurants: Cafe Etincelle, Cafe Delmas, Les Philosophes, Cafe Charlot, Derriere, Mama Shelter
-Salons/Spas: N/A
-Nightlife/Bars: BC, Cha Cha, Le Baron
-Shopping: Les Printemps, Cosmos, Kiliwatch, Tara Jarmon -Culture/Museums: Not so into museums, gotta be honest. I guess Le Petit Palais, they tend to do a lot of fashion expositions. There's a YSL Exhibition going on there that is apparently amazing...they had one on Patrick Demarchelier also that I loved.
JSD: What areas or neighborhoods are best for first time travelers?
TheFashionBomb: I love the fashionable Marais area (the 4th arrondissement) and the 3rd arrondissement.
JSD: What makes Paris different from any other city?
TheFashionBomb: It's absolutely gorgeous. Hands down, it's one of the most beautiful, artful cities in the world.
JSD: Tell us about the fashion and current trends in Paris.
TheFashionBomb: French women love their marinieres shirts (striped navy or black shirts), worn with just about everything. Shorts with stockings are always huge. I also noticed French women are sexy without being overt, so they go for lots of loose silhouettes, loose pants, and loose tops that are punched up by heels or fun accessories. Jumpsuits are big, but no outfit would be complete without a touch of red lipstick.
JSD:What are some of your travel must-haves?
TheFashionBomb: A great book and a neck pillow. I always have a Longchamp bag with me, and I love Jeremy Scott's Longchamp bags. I also always have my Tory Burch flats with me for running around the airport and my Gucci shades for hiding fatigue after a long trip.
JSD: What advice do you have for the rest of us Jet Setting Divas looking to travel to Paris in the future?
TheFashionBomb: Come with your French phrase book! The French are very proud of their language and culture and almost demand respect in that area. So at least know how to order food and ask for directions in French and you'll be fine!
