Traveler Beware

With spring break coming up---a lot of people will be booking flights/hotels/rental cars/ etc ONLINE. The TODAY show hosted a short segment on how some hotels, resorts, & restaurants post fake reviews scamming travelers into believing they're this wonderful place---when they're actually a dump or have critters or foul smelling rooms! One guy even said that if it takes a few bogus reviews to get more people in your door, he didn't see what was wrong. So please be careful, & make sure you do your research! Not to say that you're not smart enough to know that some sites don't always offer honest reviews ;)

Other than that, enjoy your weekend! And the fab blog hops around the blogisphere!

I'm popping over from FTLOB and am your newest follower :)

I am travelholic and so your blog naturally appealed to me. As for now, I'm from California, but have been living in South Africa for three years now (first cape town and now Jo'burg) Would love to do a post on must sees in the country if you are ever interested :)

This happened to us in a hotel in New Orleans! Reviews were great - hotel was not! Very good reminder...

Ew, I know I've seen those specials on tv where they go in with black lights. Definitely do your research people. Met you on 20sb. Cute blog!

WOW, that sucks, that's what happened to a few of my friends when we went to Tokyo, they paid 30 dollars a night, it was all male (they were men) and they to share a bathroom with everybody in the hotel. Oh and they slept in cots. The reviews definitely did not say that. :(

I really like checking TripAdvisor for reviews- it has never failed me thus far and I've used it to book stays in over 10 countries!

another good piece of traveler info (I am always on an airplane) the cheapest day to book travel is Tuesday! For whatever reason this is when the best prices are available...just some silver lining for yall!

Wow, that's horrible! I can't believe people would do that...in the long run though, I don't think they will profit from it.

It's always best to get reviews and recommendations from friends who have gone there, or check out places listed in your travel guide!
