Travel Like A Diva: Airplane Must-haves

All Jet Setting Divas, know that it's not just about being fabulous at the destination, but you have to travel in style as well. No matter if it's a 30 minute plane ride or a 10 hour journey, a Jet Setting Diva has got to be prepared for the ride.I'll be listing my Top 5 Airplane essentials.

iPhone
I love having my iPhone with me on the plane because it's really an all in one for me. I can listen to music, watch movies, and relax to an audiobook. It keeps me entertained for hours of fun on the plane ride.

Good Book
I also like to use long plane rides as a way to catch up on some reading. I like to bring along my fave book and get lost in the story.

Comfy Sweater

If you're always cold like me, don't forget to being a sweater. I hate freezing through an entire flight, so I make sure to bring my favorite comfy sweater to help me get comfortable.

Pillow

For those early morning flights, where you need to catch up on your zzz's, make sure you pack a pillow. I'm a fan of those neck pillows because their small and easy to stuff in a carry on and can still help me to relax for the ride.

Face Refresher Spray

Something about a plane ride always seems to dry out my skin. In order to look revived and fresh upon landing I like to pack something that can give my skin that quick pick me up. I like the Evian mineral spray because it's full of minerals that revives the skin and sets my makeup.

Cute Tote Bag

I like to keep a cute tote to carry all of my travel essentials. Finding something that's stylish yet functional is the key.

Yummy Snacks
I get hungry easily and with the ridiculous prices airports and airplanes charge for a snack, it's best just to pack your own!

So, Jet Setters, now that I've told you the essentials that I need for the plane, what are some of yours?

Spotlight:JetSetter

At JetSettingDivas we love to hear about other places people travel to-we'd love to hear from you. This month we are Spotlighting JetSetter: TheFashionBomb! Read our interview and see what she has to say about life and fashion in Paris. Who knows, maybe next month you'll be our Spotlight JetSetter

JSD:Tell us about how you ended up in Paris and how long you've been there.
TheFashionBomb: I've always loved French culture and language, ever since I was an adolescent in middle school. I really took to my French classes, and started traveling to France when I was sixteen, spending almost every summer in high school in Europe. I didn't do a semester or year abroad while in college, and always felt this tug to live abroad for longer than three months. I started working after college, and my life was fine, but it wasn't great. Basically I was at a job where I didn't see myself going where I wanted to go professionally, so I decided it would be a good time to take a break, travel, and reposition my life. I will be two years in October.

JSD: What are your favorite Parisian hotspots?
TheFashionBomb:
-Restaurants: Cafe Etincelle, Cafe Delmas, Les Philosophes, Cafe Charlot, Derriere, Mama Shelter
-Salons/Spas: N/A
-Nightlife/Bars: BC, Cha Cha, Le Baron
-Shopping: Les Printemps, Cosmos, Kiliwatch, Tara Jarmon
-Culture/Museums: Not so into museums, gotta be honest. I guess Le Petit Palais, they tend to do a lot of fashion expositions. There's a YSL Exhibition going on there that is apparently amazing...they had one on Patrick Demarchelier also that I loved.

JSD: What areas or neighborhoods are best for first time travelers?
TheFashionBomb: I love the fashionable Marais area (the 4th arrondissement) and the 3rd arrondissement.

JSD: What makes Paris different from any other city?
TheFashionBomb: It's absolutely gorgeous. Hands down, it's one of the most beautiful, artful cities in the world.

JSD: Tell us about the fashion and current trends in Paris.
TheFashionBomb: French women love their marinieres shirts (striped navy or black shirts), worn with just about everything. Shorts with stockings are always huge. I also noticed French women are sexy without being overt, so they go for lots of loose silhouettes, loose pants, and loose tops that are punched up by heels or fun accessories. Jumpsuits are big, but no outfit would be complete without a touch of red lipstick.

JSD:What are some of your travel must-haves?
TheFashionBomb: A great book and a neck pillow. I always have a Longchamp bag with me, and I love Jeremy Scott's Longchamp bags. I also always have my Tory Burch flats with me for running around the airport and my Gucci shades for hiding fatigue after a long trip.

JSD: What advice do you have for the rest of us Jet Setting Divas looking to travel to Paris in the future?
TheFashionBomb: Come with your French phrase book! The French are very proud of their language and culture and almost demand respect in that area. So at least know how to order food and ask for directions in French and you'll be fine!

To Cruise or Not To Cruise

What's the best way to get a bang for your buck with vacation? CRUISES! Most people are hesitant when it comes to cruising, because it's something strange about being on a boat for 3 or 5 days. What will I do at sea for 6 days? How are the rooms? What if something happens? Well we at JSD have the inside scoop on cruises!

Q. Where can I cruise to?
A. Depending on where you are departing from just about anywhere! Most ports (where cruiseships depart from) in South Florida will cruise to places like the Bahamas, Jamaica, St. Martin/St.Thomas. Ports leaving from Mobile, Texas, or even Tampa will cruise to Mexico. Check out an Alaskan Cruise if you're feeling adventurous!

Q. About how much do they cost?
A. Depending on the length of your cruise and where it's going it can cost anywhere from as low as $200 to as high as $7000 (usually the price for 5+ destinations longer than a week). All rates are based on a double occupancy, so the more people sharing your cabin the better. Also longer cruises tend to be higher. TIP: Book well in advance!

Q. What is included with the price?
A. The best thing about cruising is the price is all inclusive! Food as well as non-carbonated beverages, and activities onboard are included with the price you pay! You are well fed morning, noon, and night plus late night hours if you're still up. What's not included is your transportation to the port (unless you book a package with a site like orbitz.com), alcoholic beverages, or any off-shore excursions. So just bring extra cash for souvenirs, drinks and excursions and you're all set!

Q. What is there to do on board the ship?
A. PLENTY! You will def never have a dull moment. We cruised with Royal Caribbean on their Enchantment of the Seas, and I must say there was never a moment when we were like what's next? They had musicals going on in the auditorium, a rock climbing wall, pools, a dessert showcase, karaoke, and a nightclub! The list goes on. If you find yourself asking What Next?-Relax. It's Vacation.

Miscellaneous Info
-You can also go on Island Excursions by booking through the cruiseline before you make the stops to your destination. The excursions could be a picnic at the beach or drive down to a waterfall. Don't go with a native from the island. Your best bet to STAY safe is to book your excursion with the cruiseline.

-Also, make sure you have the proper documentation to travel-cruising is INTERNATIONAL, so you will need a passport!

-If you think you will be seasick, pick up Dramamine from Walgreens!

-YOU'RE ALL SET!
