ATL Shawty!

Every October the divas and I head to the wonderful city of Atlanta, Georgia for the Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic. While we're not cheering on the FAMU Rattlers, we check out all that ATL has to offer.

Where to Stay
The last time we went we stayed at the InterContinental in Buckhead. Nice hotel that is downtown and within easy access to many of Atlanta's hotspots. Any hotel within the Buckhead area is a great idea for your stay in Atlanta.

Where to Go
Our first place always on our list is Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles located in downtown Atlanta. The Divas and I look forward to our favorite meal, which is also the restaurants signature dish, the Midnight Train, (chicken and waffles) along with an Uptown (Sweet tea and Lemonade).

When coming to Atlanta, you have to check out the shopping. There is an abundance of malls, outlets and neighborhoods to stop in to. Our favorite is Lenox Square Mall.

What to See
For those looking to experience a little bit of Atlanta's history, stroll over to the house of Martin Luther King, Jr. You can experience the birth place of one of our nation's most influential leaders.

Check out Underground Atlanta to snatch up great deals on souvenirs.
DO Check out:
1.The Coca-Cola Factory
2.The Georgia Aquarium
3. Centinnial Park
4. Six Flags over Georgia
Have any of you Jet-Setters been to Atlanta, share with us some of your favorite ATL hotspots and what you think about the city!

Jet-Setter Highlights: Flip Burger

We'll be starting up a new segment where we highlight special places we've been.

I was recently in Birmingham, Alabama and had the chance to experience a great restaurant called Flip Burger Boutique. They have gourmet burgers, if you're tired of the same ol' same ol' from the fast food joints, try out this place that puts a twist on your ordinary burger.

The decor was very unique too, which really gave the place and upscale atmosphere and let you know that you weren't eating at your local burger diner- perfect for a date or the beginning of a Girls Night Out.

However, since it was such a nice day we chose to sit outside where we had a beautiful view.

They have all kinds of gourmet burgers including shrimp, thai, and veggie, but I played it safe, with a beef hamburger. I also had the Nutella and Burnt Marshmallow Milkshake, which was delicious.

For more information on Flip Burger, check out their website: www.flipburgerboutique.com

***Please feel free to submit and share about any special places to have stopped in recently that other travelers may like to experience as well! It can be from your hometown or from a recent vacay, whether it be a restaurant, boutique, specific location, or event that you'd like to highlight.

Flight Carriers

With all the talk about airport security and the new rules that TSA employees must implement (sorry if you don't want naked photos of yourself floating around or don't want to be felt up before you get dinner & a movie) let's talk about flight carries. Who do you prefer to fly with? Which airlines offer the best rates?

When booking a flight, do you stay with one carrier to rack up the miles to get free trips and hotel stays? Or do you go on orbitz.com and just compare prices and choose the lower?

JSD Tips for comparing flights:
♥ DO use a website like orbitz.com or expedia.com if you're just looking for the cheapest deal
♥ DO sign up with a specific airline frequent flyer program if you find yourself traveling with them quite often. You can use the miles you traveled to earn free flights, hotel stays, magazines etc.
♥DON'T wait until the last minute to book a flight! You'll be paying way more than you want to. Know you want to travel during the New Year's holiday? If you haven't booked now, depending on where you're going--it's going to be one expensive flight!
♥ DON'T overlook the EXTRA fees flight carriers charge! Baggage fees are the new thing---Southwest has bags fly free! If not, you have to pay for your bags to fly-both ways.
♥ DO make sure you want to travel the dates you choose when booking. Carriers charge extra fees to make any changes to your itinerary.

So what your tips when booking flights? We'd love to hear from you!

SECURITY! Security Hassels and how to deal

♥ With holiday travels already being a headache, now we have to worry about the extra headache of full body scanners vs pat downs. If stuffing everything into one suitcase isn't enough right? Guess having you partially undress wasn't enough either? Well, no matter how much you DON'T like the new guidelines all travelers must go through the Airport Security.
Flying for the first time? Or has it been a while since you've flown? Read some of our quick tips to help make your holidays travels less of a hassel! ♥

JSD Quick Tips:
♥ Have your boarding pass and I.D. READY! This is the first checkpoint with security, and you don't want to hold up the line searching for these documents.
♥ Try to wear less to the airport! Sounds funny huh? Well believe it or not, this will save you time when you begin to put on your striptease for the TSA workers! If it's cold, try to wear ONE jacket. You will have to take off your outerwear, shoes, and belts (any accessories that will make the metal detector go off)
DON'T carry any liquids in your carry-on or purse, briefcase, etc. The TSA has special guidelines for liquids, but just in case if you have any doubts about what is acceptable
don't bring it!
ARRIVE EARLY! Lines during the holidays + the new security guidelines can really cause holdups. You don't want to miss your flight because you couldn't find your fav scarf or lost your Ipod!
DO online check-in (including bag check) to save time to stand in line for security.
♥ If you are bringing gifts along with you-do not wrap them! They may ask you to unwrap it if they feel they need to inspect it!

Now the big thing- full body scanner or pat down?? Well the full body scanner sounds quick and harmless. Pat down--is a little bit more personal, and who wants to get that personal with TSA--you don't even know their name and they're moving in to second base!
Have any questions? Check the websites of the carriers who are servicing your flights for more info!
♥Happy Holidays!♥

Pick City of the Month: Dallas

Divas! We are back! We've been on hiatus but we're back with more traveling tips, pics, and much more! We at JetSettingDivas realize that there are a lot..A LOT..of cool places and cities to visit and we intend to shed the spotlight on as many as we can. This month, the pick city of the month is Dallas, TX.

Dallas, TX has much more to offer than just,"America's Favorite Team",the Cowboys-read on to see all that Dallas has to offer. Maybe you can make it your next trip!

♥Q. What makes Dallas sooo special?
♥ A. Everything! Don't believe us? National Geographic listed it on its Ultimate City Guide and the #1 city people travel to in Texas---NOW do we have your attention?!

♥ Q. Sooo get to the good stuff---what is there to do in Dallas?
♥ A. Glad you asked! Here are the Top 5 things you must do in Dallas:

1. Tour the Dallas Cowboy Stadium! No Cowboy fans here, but hey it is one hell of a stadium...they spent over 3 billion just on lights!

2. Try Texas BBQ! Everywhere claims to be the king of BBQ, but BBQ is BIGGER AND BETTER in Dallas!! Off the Bone Grill has ribs that will just fall right into your mouth!

3. Shop at Galleria Dallas. If you love to shop---you'll definitely get lost in the 100's of stores to go in. Some of the stores include--- Nordstrom, Zara, Juicy Couture, Macy's, Tiffany & Co...to name a few.

4. Visit Six Flags over Texas. Feeling a little adventurous or like a big kid? Have kids you want to entertain? Take them to Six Flags!

5. Visit the Dallas Arts District. Every now and then you have to get in touch with your artistic side...why not do in Dallas Arts District! It's almost 20 blocks of non-stop art.

♥ Q. Where should we stay?
♥ A. The Uptown area is a must if you're looking for the young, hip, sophisticated crowd. Lots of nice bars & restaurants-the nightlife in this area won't be an upset. Try staying at The W or Hyatt Summerfield Suites.

♥Other Must-See Spots

-Ripley's Believe it or Not (972) 263-2391. Located in Grand Prairie, TX-about a 15 min drive.

-Jake's Hamburgers--inexpensive and voted #1 burger in the DFW area numerous times! Located in Uptown Dallas.

With hot weather during the summer months and real cold winter months, Dallas has plenty to offer a diverse crowd!

Travel Tips: Traveling on a Budget

Hi JetSetters! I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!

Although we love traveling and having a great time while doing so, we are always mindful of our expenses. In order to truly have a great trip, you have to be mindful of your budget, so that once the trip is over, you're not in debt!

Travel with a Group
There are alot of great ways to get group discounts when traveling with a large group. In addition, costs can be decreased when you are splitting a hotel room, car rental, or a tour.

Book Early...or Late
There are always perks to booking your flight or crusie in advance. The prices for a trip can dramatically increase as the travel time nears. To be on the safe side I always book no later than 21 days out from my trip. On the flipside, booking late can always have its advantages as well. On many travel websites, you will see sections for "Last Minute Flights" and you can score some great deals. This is because the airlines are trying to sell more of their seats, sot they reduce the prices.

Use your discounts
Whether you work in Corporate America, are an educator or have a AAA card, you can usually find some type of discount to use in your booking plans. Whenever booking anything for a trip, I always ask if there is a discount that I can use from my job or an organization that I'm affiliated with. Hey, it never hurts to ask! I also made sure to sign up for the Frequent Flyer programs on the airlines that I use most often. This way I can earn points towards a free flight and when you travel as much as we do, it definitely comes in handy!

So, Divas these are the rules I live by when trying to get the best deals for my trips, but I know that there are others who have some great tips as well. Feel free to share the rules you live by when trying to save and still have a fabulous trip!
